The first time you get into a car accident as the driver, even if you are found not at fault, you will still question whether you could have done something differently. Your first accident has a way of scaring that question out of you. When this happens, you will likely go over everything you did prior to the accident happening. Just because the other driver is being charged for the accident, that does not necessarily mean that you did everything you could to help prevent it from happening.
Safe driving habits by themselves do not guarantee that you will not be in an accident with someone else. Their lack of safe driving can override your diligence and get you involved in something you feel you did not deserve. This is why it is important to always anticipate what could go wrong, so you are more prepared to take evasive action should you have to.
