Many of us who love humor remember running to the store to buy the latest issue of MAD Magazine. Most of us don't remember a time before the satire publication existed. Harvey Kurtzman created it in 1952, and he invited his cartoonist friend Al Jaffee to come work for him.

"I couldn't go with him, I was with Stan Lee," Jaffee, now 95, recalls in an interview for Ford. Jaffee was able to join MAD a few years later -- ironically, just as his friend Kurtzman was quitting.

Al Jaffee's presence would prove invaluable to the magazine's success. In 1964, he came up with the idea for the first fold-in page. It was a full-page illustration with "fold here" lines indicated in the margins. Fold the page in, and the original illustration transforms into a second, secret image -- a joke on the first.

This nonagenarian artist has had a big impact on the world of comedy, but he's never worked on an animation before now. Ford was honored to enlist Jaffee's help, as well as three other iconic illustrators, to create a series of distracted driving cartoons.

Driving distracted is a serious safety issue Ford is hoping to tackle with these very silly animations.

At Ford Lincoln Fairfield, our new Ford inventory offers many safety features, from automatic emergency braking, to hands-free voice commands that can help mitigate and prevent distractions.
